Health and Safety Policy Statement

Helm specialises in the provision of construction services and residential, specialist application and commercial property development. It provides services to a range of individual, private, charitable and public sector clients.

Health and Safety is of prime importance to Helm and we will seek to conduct our business in such a way as to avoid harm to all our stake holders (employees, clients and partners) and all others who may be affected directly or indirectly by our activities.

We recognise that Health and Safety management is a key aspect of managing the business as a whole. For a Health and Safety management system to be fully sustainable and effective each individual must similarly recognise their role relating to Health and Safety and line managers must be responsible for Health and Safety management. Health and Safety is therefore incorporated into policies, planning and controls in such a manner that facilitates operation within the framework of Company and statutory requirements.

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, together with other related regulations, places specific responsibilities on both employers and employees. It is our Company policy to comply fully with this legislation and, in doing so, we will consult with all employees and all other stake holders on Health and Safety matters.

Furthermore, we fully recognise procedures detailed by the Health and Safety Executive and each development or project we undertake will have a trained CDM Coordinator (Construction Design and Management Coordinator) appointed in the first instance.

Finally, a Health and Safety handbook has been developed by the company Health and Safety advisor, to cover the Health and Safety issues which impact upon our business. Directors and senior management who manage our activities will ensure that the procedures and work instructions are observed and promote awareness in all employees as an integral part of good management. We request all members of staff to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the relevant documentation contained in the Health and Safety handbook to the extent applicable to their individual responsibilities.
