Environment Policy Statement

Helm’s overall business philosophy is based on the principle of working ‘With People in Mind’. This philosophy is the essence of our business culture and the basis of our Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Policies.
Our environmental goals are based on two principles; assisting the protection of the earth’s natural habitat by conserving and enhancing biodiversity and minimising the impact of our business activities on the earth’s resources.

To meet these goals we will work in partnership with our stakeholders and provide clear and honest information on the impact of our business activities on the environment.CORPORATE COMMITMENTS
In pursuit of our environmental goals, Helm is committed to the following through a programme of continual improvement:

• Ensuring our operations complies with relevant environmental regulations and our operations are conducted in a manner that prevents pollution and conserves resources.

• Integrate environmental management into our business and decision-making processes, and regularly measure and review our performance against predetermined objectives and targets.

• Design energy efficiency into new services, buildings and manage energy wisely in all operations.

• Seek to use materials efficiently to minimise material waste and promote re-cycling or re-use in all operations.

• Reduce, wherever practical, the level of harmful emissions within our business activities, particularly with regard to site equipment and vehicles.

• Promote with our suppliers, partners and sub-contractors the benefits of adopting sound environmental practices

• Protect visual amenity by ensuring that our properties are designed and built to a high level of aesthetic quality.

• Support our staff in implementing this Policy in accordance with their roles and responsibilities within the organisation.

• Implement an Environmental Management System to meet the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001:1996.
This policy will be periodically reviewed in light of new knowledge, changes in legislation and new business practices.
